Unless – це союз, який використовується для зв’язку частин умовного пропозиції. Перекладається як «якщо не» і має негативне значення, тому після unless не можна вживати ще одне заперечення, оскільки, як ми знаємо, в одному англійському реченні (простому), не можна вживати заперечення двічі.
Unless you come – якщо ти не прийдеш (вірно)
Unless you don’t come – неправильно!!!
Unless: значення, переклад, приклади речень.
Ми використовуємо союз unless в значенні «якщо не», «поки». Союз unless, як і if, починає підрядне речення в CONDITIONALS (умовних реченнях). Якщо підрядне речення з unless стоїть на першому місці, то частини умовного речення розділяються комами, якщо на другому – кома не потрібна.
Unless it rains, we’ll go for a picnic.
We’ll go for a picnic unless it rains.
Як правило, постановка розділових знаків і вживання подвійного заперечення – не єдині проблеми, які виникають при використанні unless. Це слово часто плутають з іншими союзами.

Unless – якщо не
If my friends invite me to their party, i’ll go. — Якщо мої друзі запросять мене свою вечірку, то я піду.
Unless my friends invite me to their party, I won’t go. — Якщо мої друзі не запросять мене на вечірку, то я не піду.
Unless означає те ж, що if…not. Unless використовується замість if…not в умовних реченнях (conditional sentences) усіх типів. Порядок частин може бути різним, тобто частина, що вводиться unless може бути і першої, і другої

Read and translate
This story is about one water polo player
Max Roger. He was born in Scotland in 2004. Also he was an owner of young IT
company. He is married with his classmate Sarah, but they live separately
because of Sarah's job and study.
Max isn’t good at computer science, but he is
a good manager. His hobby is psychology and also he is a motivator on YouTube.
In last he wanted to become successful and rich.
When Max was a teenager, he was found of one
youth culture called Mods. He tried to dress in Italian- style and leather
clothes, also he wore dark glasses and black shoes. At that time he had some
problem with smoking and hated poor people.
Once Max's friend invited him at the water
polo competition and he attended to the Sport club. It became his hobby too. He
was very tired after swimming pool but worked a lot at the computer. Max
understood that profession of programmer is very well-paid today and organized
IT company invested all his money in this project. Now Max works as a
psychologist and has a good fame.
His wife lives and studies in London. She
wants to become an architect and has an idea how to protect plants combining
them with buildings. She has several projects about parks and sport centers on
an area of woodland. Max and Sarah have meetings every Saturday. After
Christmas they are going to spend three weeks touring Africa. And in two years
Max are moving to London too.

Learning of a
foreign language is not an easy task. It. is a long and slow process that takes
a lot of time and efforts. That is why it is very important to have a good
teacher. I am very grateful to my English teacher who made me interested in
this subject. She is the person I loved best at school because our English
lessons were very interesting and instructive.
We began to
study English in the first form. So she was the first who gave us the knowledge
that English is an international language, it is the language of business, diplomacy
and international relations, the language of progressive science and
engineering. She convinced us that it is absolutely necessary for every
educated person, for every good specialist to know English well today.
Our teacher was
very competent and a good professional. She had a good command of the English
language. From lesson to lesson we improved our knowledge, learnt more and more
new words, grammatical structures and put them into practice of speaking.
We were lucky
enough to have such a patient and tactful teacher. She never mocked at the
pupils if they said or did something wrong. She patiently corrected our
mistakes and explained us everything we could not understand.
Our teacher did
her best to make our lessons interesting and entertaining. We often worked in
video class, watched English video films and then had a discussion. We got
acquainted with English or American writers reading their works in the
original. We communicated with native speakers of English. The speech of native
speakers served us a good example, which we tried to follow. We listened to pop
songs and tried to understand the words.
Our teacher
always looked perfect and we never saw her face angry or unfriendly. We felt
that she loved us and this is very important in teacher’s work.
Teachers do not only teach their subjects. They develop their pupils” intellect, their attitudes to life and to other people. With the help of my teacher I learned a lot. Knowledge of foreign languages opens many doors before you, gives you many opportunities and advantages.

Jokes
His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while
trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a
nearby boy. He dropped his tools and ran to the boy. There, mired to his waist
in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself.
Farmer Fleming saved the boy from what could have been a slow and terrifying
death. The next day, a
fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's place. An elegantly dressed nobleman
stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy farmer Fleming had
saved.
"I want to repay уоu", said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life". "No, I
can't accept payment for what I did", the Scottish farmer replied, waving
off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the
family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked.
"Yes", the farmer replied proudly. "I’ll make you a deal. Let me take him and give him a good education. If
the fellow is anything like his father, he'll grow to a man you can be proud
of.
And that he did. In time, farmer Fleming's son graduated from St. Mary's
Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the
world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin. Years afterward,
the nobleman's son was close to death from pneumonia. What saved him?
Penicillin. The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's
name?
